[edit] Creating a del.icio.us Account

  • Browse to del.icio.us.
  • Click the register link in the upper-right hand corner.
  • Enter the registration information and click register.
  • Check your email; a confirmation will come from del.icio.us with a link you need to click on.

  • Browse to del.icio.us.
  • Click the login link in the upper-right hand corner.
  • Enter your username and password.

[edit] Important information about logging into/out of del.icio.us

Once you log in to del.icio.us the browser will remember your username/password until you log out. As a result, if you don't log out, the next user on the computer can accidentally (or deliberately) add bookmarks to your account.

When working on a shared computer, always remember to log out of del.icio.us when you are done.

If the previous user has logged out, then you'll be prompted to log in the first time you try to add a bookmark using the bookmarklet.

  • Log in to del.icio.us.
  • Click the post link at the top of the page.
  • Enter the url of the site you'd like to bookmark, and click save.
  • Add a brief description of the page (this can be as simple as the page/site title).
  • Add an extended description in the notes field if you like.
  • Add as many tags as you like.
  • Click save.

  • Log in to del.icio.us.
  • Browse to the site/page you'd like to bookmark.
  • Click the post to del.icio.us bookmark in your browser's toolbar.
  • Modify the bookmark description if you like.
  • Add an extended description in the notes field if you like.
  • Add as many tags as you like.
  • Click save.
